Access for everyone

Accessibility statement.

MAC Hub is owned and managed by Ekopia Social Investments Limited. We want the venue, website and booking process to be welcoming and accessible to as many people as reasonably possible.

This is a voluntary accessibility statement. It explains our approach, identifies current limitations and tells you how to request support or report an accessibility problem.

Using this website

We have designed the website with the intention that visitors should be able to:

  • access it on a phone, tablet or desktop computer;
  • enlarge text and page content without losing essential information;
  • navigate the main pages, links and form controls using a keyboard;
  • use screen-reading and speech-recognition software;
  • understand pages through a consistent heading structure;
  • recognise links and buttons from meaningful labels;
  • read text with sufficient colour contrast;
  • understand images through alternative text where the image conveys information; and
  • complete forms using clearly associated labels and instructions.

We aim to use plain, direct language wherever possible.

Accessibility standard

We aim to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA where reasonably practicable.

The completed Squarespace website, enquiry form and LemonBooking journey have not yet received a full independent accessibility audit or comprehensive testing with assistive technologies. We therefore do not currently claim full WCAG 2.2 AA conformance.

Accessibility will be reviewed as the website, booking system and venue services develop.

Squarespace website

The website is built and hosted using Squarespace 7.1.

Squarespace provides responsive layouts and supports many standard accessibility features. However, some aspects of the underlying platform and its built-in components are controlled by Squarespace rather than Ekopia.

We are responsible for making the content we add through Squarespace as accessible as reasonably possible. This includes headings, text, images, links, forms, colour choices and downloadable documents.

Enquiry form and reCAPTCHA

The contact page includes a Squarespace enquiry form protected by Google reCAPTCHA.

The form is intended to provide:

  • visible labels for each field;
  • clear identification of required information;
  • appropriate input types for email addresses, telephone numbers and dates;
  • understandable error messages; and
  • keyboard access to form fields and controls.

Google reCAPTCHA uses automated security checks and may occasionally present an additional challenge. These challenges may not be equally accessible to every visitor.

If you cannot use the enquiry form or reCAPTCHA, you can contact Ekopia directly:

Email: hello@mac-hub.uk
Telephone: +44 (0)1309 691258

You will not be disadvantaged because you use an alternative way of contacting us.

LemonBooking

Room availability and bookings are provided through an embedded LemonBooking service.

Although we select and configure the booking service, parts of its design, code and accessibility are controlled by LemonBooking. This may include the calendar, date selection, account or booking forms and confirmation screens.

We intend to test the main LemonBooking journey for:

  • keyboard navigation;
  • visible keyboard focus;
  • screen-reader labels;
  • text enlargement and reflow;
  • colour contrast;
  • understandable validation messages; and
  • use on smaller screens.

If you cannot use LemonBooking, or if it does not work with your assistive technology, please contact us. We can discuss availability and reasonable alternative booking arrangements by email or telephone.

Maps and location information

The Visit page includes an embedded map based on OpenStreetMap.

Interactive maps can be difficult to use with some keyboards, screen readers, magnification tools or other assistive technologies. The essential location information is therefore also provided as text:

MAC Hub
Field of Dreams
The Park
Findhorn, Forres
Moray IV36 3TA
Scotland

Please contact us if you need directions in another format or help planning your visit.

Videos and audio

The website may occasionally include videos hosted by YouTube or Vimeo.

Where we create or control a video, we will aim to provide accurate captions and, where the information cannot be understood from the audio alone, suitable visual description or accompanying text.

Videos supplied by third parties may not always include captions, transcripts or audio description. The accessibility of the YouTube and Vimeo players is also partly controlled by those providers.

Please contact us if you need information from a video in an alternative format.

We will avoid automatically playing audio wherever we control the relevant setting.

Images and documents

We aim to provide alternative text for images that communicate information. Images used only for decoration may have empty alternative text so that screen readers can ignore them.

Photographs cannot always communicate every practical aspect of a room. Please contact us if you need further information about a space, its layout or its facilities.

Documents added to the website should be created in an accessible format wherever reasonably possible. If you cannot use a PDF or other document, please ask us for the information in an alternative format.

Known limitations

The following limitations are currently known or require further testing:

  • The website has not undergone a complete independent WCAG 2.2 AA audit.
  • The full LemonBooking process requires testing with keyboard navigation, screen readers, text enlargement and mobile devices.
  • The embedded OpenStreetMap may not provide an equivalent experience for every keyboard or screen-reader user.
  • Google reCAPTCHA may create difficulties for some visitors.
  • YouTube or Vimeo players and third-party videos may have accessibility limitations outside our direct control.
  • Some historical or externally supplied images may not have sufficiently detailed descriptions.
  • Detailed physical-access information for each room has not yet been confirmed.

We will review these areas and make reasonable improvements where we can.

Visiting the building

Detailed information about step-free access, accessible parking, accessible toilets, door widths, lifts, hearing assistance and access to individual rooms has not yet been fully confirmed.

We do not want to make promises about physical access that may prove inaccurate. If you have an access requirement, please contact us before visiting or booking so that we can discuss:

  • the route into and around the building;
  • access to the room you wish to use;
  • seating or room-layout requirements;
  • accessible toilet facilities;
  • parking or drop-off arrangements;
  • lighting, sound or sensory considerations;
  • assistance animals;
  • communication support; and
  • any other reasonable adjustment that may help.

We will consider reasonable adjustments according to the circumstances, the needs of the individual and what the venue can reasonably provide.

Alternative formats and assistance

You can ask us to provide website or venue information in another reasonable format, such as:

  • a plain-text email;
  • a larger-print document;
  • information explained by telephone;
  • written directions that do not rely on the map; or
  • assistance with making an enquiry or booking.

Please tell us which information you need and what format or adjustment would help.

Reporting an accessibility problem

If you find an accessibility problem, please tell us:

  • the page or service you were trying to use;
  • what went wrong;
  • the browser or device you were using, if known;
  • any assistive technology you were using; and
  • what change or alternative would help.

How this statement was prepared

This statement was prepared from a review of the website’s design, content and known third-party services.

The website has not yet been fully audited by an independent accessibility specialist or tested across every combination of browser, device and assistive technology.

We plan to review accessibility after significant changes to the website, contact form or booking service, when further building-access information becomes available, and at least once each year.

Next scheduled review: September 2027
