About the building

More than 20 years of creativity.

The building now known as MAC Hub has long been an important home for creativity, culture and community activity in Moray.

In 2021, following financial challenges faced by the Moray Art Centre charity, Ekopia purchased the building from the charity, securing its future as a community asset.

A community asset

A sustainable future for the whole building.

Following the sale, the Moray Art Centre charity continued to deliver its charitable arts programme from the building under a lease arrangement, while Ekopia managed the artist studios and other areas of the site.

Following further financial pressures, the charity has now ended its lease. Ekopia, as owner of the building, has taken responsibility for managing and developing the site as a whole.

To reflect this new chapter, and to distinguish the building from the Moray Art Centre charity, the building is now being developed under the name MAC Hub.

Ekopia’s aim is to build on the building’s creative and cultural legacy while opening it up to wider use and establishing a financially sustainable future for this important community asset.

The vision for MAC Hub is a welcoming, active and collaborative place where artists, makers, organisations, community groups and individuals can work, create, meet, learn and develop new ideas.

Ekopia welcomes approaches from organisations, individuals and groups interested in using space at MAC Hub, developing activities, collaborating or becoming part of its future.

Moray Art Centre charity

A separate, independent arts charity.

Moray Art Centre remains an independent arts charity and continues its charitable work. Although it is no longer based permanently within this building, it continues to support arts, artists, learning and creative activity.

The building is owned and managed by Ekopia. Moray Art Centre continues independently as a charitable arts organisation.
